Our Materials

At ILISAH nature is our muse, guiding every aspect of our design and material choices. We source our fabrics from a female-owned mill in Kenya that supports over 22,000 small-scale farmers across East Africa. These farmers rely on cotton farming to educate their children and feed their families, making our choice of supplier a commitment to social and economic sustainability.
Our fabric provider practices responsible manufacturing, treating and purifying wastewater using advanced effluent treatment plants, which significantly reduces their ecological footprint. They also harness solar energy and utilize a biomass steam boiler, further minimizing environmental impact.

We carefully select materials like cotton and vegan leather, drawing inspiration from the natural world around us. Our commitment extends beyond creating products that meet your expectations; we aim to develop durable materials that withstand everyday life while keeping our environmental impact minimal.

ILISAH incorporates beautiful kitenge fabric to celebrate the complexity and beauty of the African continent. We believe that one of the most effective ways to share and celebrate each culture is through clothing.
For us, it’s not just about making bags, it’s about giving solutions that are as kind to the planet as they are to your everyday life.
